InterGlobe Enterprises Ventures into Hospitality, Partners with Accor to Launch 300 Hotels Across India

In a bold diversification move, InterGlobe Enterprises, the parent company of India’s largest airline IndiGo, is entering the hospitality sector with plans to build 300 hotels across the country by 2030. This initiative marks the first time an Indian airline has announced the creation of a dedicated nationwide hotel chain.

InterGlobe has partnered with global hospitality leader Accor to roll out over 30,000 hotel rooms across Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities, spanning economy to luxury categories. With InterGlobe’s ₹712 billion revenue in FY2024 and Accor’s global ₹504 billion turnover, the partnership is well-positioned to disrupt India’s fragmented hotel industry.

This strategic expansion allows InterGlobe to extend its reach beyond air travel and into the broader travel experience. By offering flights and stays under one umbrella, the company aims to increase convenience for customers while capturing a larger share of their travel spend.

Key advantages of this move include:

  • New revenue streams that aren’t tied to aircraft operations
  • Improved customer loyalty through an integrated travel offering
  • Stronger competitive edge via vertical integration
  • Insight-driven expansion by leveraging IndiGo’s deep understanding of traveler behavior

The hospitality foray is also closely linked with InterGlobe’s loyalty strategy. IndiGo’s rapidly growing BluChip program, which gained over 2 million members in just six months, will now integrate with Accor’s ALL (Accor Live Limitless) program—a global network with over 100 million members. This allows customers to earn and redeem points across both flights and hotels, incentivizing higher engagement and repeat business.

To accelerate its mid-market presence, InterGlobe is launching the initiative through Treebo Hospitality Ventures, an asset-light hotel chain with over 1,000 properties in 120 cities. This approach offers scale without heavy infrastructure investment.

Rahul Bhatia, MD, InterGlobe Enterprises said, “At InterGlobe, we have always believed in our commitment to building meaningful and enduring relationships with both our partners and the guests we serve. Today, I am delighted to further strengthen our two-decade long association with Accor through this strategic partnership. Together with InterGlobe’s deep market insights, Accor’s world-class services, India’s dynamic growth and evolving travel landscape, we aim to redefine the hospitality experience by offering exceptional value to our guests and setting new standards for excellence in the industry.”

Sébastien Bazin, Chairman & CEO, Accor said, “This partnership marks a transformative moment for Accor and its brands in India. By aligning with our long-term successful and trusted partner InterGlobe and bringing together the best of hospitality, tech and entrepreneurship in India, we are unlocking unprecedented growth potential in one of the world’s most exciting travel markets.”

Pieter Elbers, CEO, IndiGo said, “We are excited to be working on a strategic partnership with Accor to elevate the travel experience and maximise the rewards of our valued loyalty members. Last year at IndiGo’s 18th anniversary, the launch of BluChip loyalty program was announced. And to date, since its launch in Nov 2024, over 20 lakh members have already enrolled with BluChip. Now IndiGo moves to the next phase to strengthen its loyalty program by exploring and developing strategic partnerships… (to) open new and unparalleled opportunities for IndiGo’s BluChip members.”

By evolving from a transportation provider into a full-fledged travel partner, InterGlobe is redefining how airlines can grow—focusing not just on flying more, but on offering more value at every stage of the customer journey.
