After five successful editions across Northern India, Daakroom – The Letter Writing Carnival made its debut in Mumbai at the World Trade Center. Presented by JK Paper and supported by India Post, the event celebrated the timeless art of handwritten letters, offering a day filled with creativity, nostalgia, and connection.
The carnival created a vibrant and engaging atmosphere that brought generations together to rediscover the beauty of handwritten communication. The Writing Zone stood out as a highlight, with a Walk-In Post Office by India Post, featuring a real letterbox and postmen riding bicycles through the event, evoking nostalgia and authenticity. Unique experiences like vintage letter scrolls sealed with wax, a typewriter station, live calligraphy, caricatures, handwriting analysis and interactive writing invited visitors to immerse themselves in the world of letters, art, and tangibility, sparking meaningful conversations and heartfelt connections.
Adding to the magic of the day were contributions from key partners who enriched the carnival with their unique offerings. JK Paper hosted a creative Paper Craft Zone, where children explored origami, mask-making, and participated in a touching colouring activity designed for blind students. Pentel’s Best Handwriting Competition celebrated the lost art of elegant penmanship, with prizes rewarding participants’ skill. The Cycling Zone by Avanti added to the digital detox theme, promoting outdoor play and gifting premium bicycles as prizes. Families were captivated by the storytelling sessions and workshops hosted by Amar Chitrakatha, while National Book Trust (NBT) nurtured young minds by gifting booksets as prizes. A compelling Nukkad Natak, performed by Mr. Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares Institute, added a theatrical flair to the event. The Nostalgia Zone, featuring a bioscope, rotary dial phones, paper planes, and boats, took attendees on a trip down memory lane, enchanting visitors of all ages.
