The India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024 is being held from October 15-18 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, with the aim of highlighting India’s goal of leading in 6G technology. Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union Minister of Communications, discussed this objective, indicating a transition from being a follower in 4G to taking an active role in the next generation of telecommunications.
To support innovation at the grassroots level, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has introduced a Testing and Reimbursement Scheme for startups and Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs). This initiative is designed to alleviate the financial burden associated with testing and certification, helping these businesses bring quality products to market more effectively. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with IIT Jammu to enhance capacity building in Cybersecurity, demonstrating a commitment to strengthening the nation’s cyber defenses. The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Excellence Awards 2023 will also recognize contributions across various telecom sectors.
IMC 2024 will provide a platform for investment and networking opportunities, facilitating over 500 one-on-one meetings to connect more than 1,000 potential investors with innovators. This setup aims to foster a supportive ecosystem for growth.
In his keynote address, Minister Scindia highlighted how technology can connect remote villages with urban areas in India. This approach seeks to improve connectivity and integrate the nation under a unified digital framework, promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for all.
As part of global discussions, IMC 2024 will take place alongside the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA 2024) and the Global Standards Symposium (GSS 2024). These events are expected to attract numerous exhibitors and attendees, showcasing new technologies and encouraging collaboration.
IMC 2024 will also serve as a platform for future technologies, focusing on areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Semiconductors, and Quantum Technologies. The event aims to provide a forum for discussing the current state and potential of these applications.
The theme “The Future is Now” invites stakeholders in the global and Indian telecom sectors to recognize opportunities in advancing technologies. Policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators are encouraged to participate in this event to engage in discussions that will shape the future of telecommunications.
