
On July 9, 2024, Travel + Leisure announced the World’s Best Awards, ranking Udaipur, Rajasthan, as the second-best city globally and the top city in Asia. San Miguel de Allende in Mexico secured the first position, with Kyoto in Japan coming in third.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari expressed her delight at Udaipur’s ranking, calling it a tribute to the city’s heritage, art, culture, and cuisine. She emphasized that the respect shown by the local people has drawn tourists from around the world. Kumari credited the collective efforts of the state government’s policies and all stakeholders in the tourism sector for making Rajasthan a top tourist destination globally, leaving visitors with cherished memories.
Principal Secretary Gayatri Rathore praised Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari’s leadership, noting that Rajasthan tourism is reaching new heights. Rathore highlighted a significant increase in domestic and foreign tourists at the start of the year, affirming Rajasthan as a preferred destination.
Tourism Department Director Dr. Rashmi Sharma added that the department is developing tourist facilities to meet global standards. She expressed confidence that, under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and the guidance of Principal Secretary Gayatri Rathore, Rajasthan tourism will achieve record milestones.
