The NCPA (National Centre for the Performing Arts) is delighted to announce Artie’s Festival 2024, to be held at the Experimental Theatre on April 17 and 18. The festival is curated by French cellist Gauthier Hermann and the NCPA Chairman, Khushroo N. Suntook. In the upcoming season, the festival will feature a combination of well-known masterpieces, relatively less-known pieces, and reductions of famous orchestral works.

Gauthier Herrmann discovered India in 2001 as a young solo cellist and never stopped coming back. He returned soon after with his Trio con Fuoco and later with the Neemrana quartet. By then, the seeds of Artie’s Festival had been sown, and in March 2008, the first concerts of the festival took place at the NCPA. Since then, Artie’s Festival has travelled to other parts of Southeast Asia, Central Asia, the Gulf and, of course, all over Europe.

Musicians taking part in the festival are Hugo Meder and Mathilde Borsarello Herrmann on the violin, Violaine Despeyroux on the viola, Gauthier Herrmann on the cello and Jean-Michel Dayez on the piano. Featured pieces will include Lekeu: Sonata in G major, Ravel: Piano Trio in A minor and Shostakovich: Piano Quintet in G minor Op. 57 on April 17. Performances on the 18th April will include Schumann: Piano Quartet in E-flat major, Opus 47 and Dvorak: Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major Op. 81.

Reviving the beauty and brilliance of classical music, experience the magic firsthand this summer at the NCPA!
