‘Babasaheb: The Grand Musical’ by Delhi Govt Celebrates his Legacy in a Unique Manner

‘Babasaheb: The Grand Musical’, a play on the life of the father of the Indian Constitution, BR Ambedkar is organised by the government of Delhi from 25 February 2022 to 12 March 2022 at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium for public.

While the musical extravaganza has been directed by Mahua Chauhan and helmed by Roshan Abbas as its creative director, actor Rohit Roy is playing the role of Babasaheb along with Teekam Joshi as narrators. And through it all, Indian Ocean’s music merged with Vineet Panchhi and Kausar Munir’s lyrics have kept the people hooked. The show is produced and managed by E-Factor Entertainment.

One of the highlights of the play is its sets, Art Director Omung Kumar has created a 100 ft. stage to give an international theater experience to Delhities. The grand theatrical production witnesses with over 10 songs (created by Delhi-based folk-rock band Indian Ocean) and 160 dancers and supporting actors attempts to revive the portrait of a man whose criticism for the chasm separating the social classes led him to fight for a number of causes, including water satyagraha and women empowerment.

Vowing to walk on the path shown by Dr Ambedkar and fulfil the dreams he saw for this society, CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “As we are celebrating the 75th year of independence., the Delhi Government is organizing a ‘never seen before’ series of shows to celebrate the legacy of Babasaheb, who was also the architect of our constitution. The musical is based on Babasaheb’s life, thoughts, ideas and ideology. The entry will be free to all so that each and every citizen can watch the show and seek inspiration from his life.”
