The Multiplex Association of India (MAI), a nationwide group of cinema operators that informs, educates and advocates on behalf of the cinema exhibition sector recently expressed its gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal; Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia for listening and acting on Indian Film Industry’s collective call made to the Government of Delhi for allowing reopening of cinemas.
This decision gave the cinema industry, the necessary impetus to recover from the impact of the on-going pandemic.
Kamal Gianchandani, President, MAI said, “Governments across the world are maintaining a balanced approach to COVID-19 measures, and are considering the health of economy together with the public health concerns. We remain committed to the safety and hygiene protocols as advised by various State Government, and urge all our State Governments to allow us to operate without restrictions on seating capacity or the business operating hours.”
With cases falling and vaccinations rising this decision by the Delhi Government will restore 100% seating capacity and removing the night curfews will be the other vital requisites for the revival of the film industry.
