Amidst the rise of Covid19 cases in Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu, the state government has decided to impose several restrictions including a ban on public celebration of religious events and gatherings from 10 April 2021.
Here’s a list of revised rules and guidelines:
– 50pc seating capacity in hotels and tea stalls
– Temple festivals, religious events banned
– Spectators not allowed in playgrounds – IPL to be held without audience in Chennai
– E-registration mandatory to enter the state
– Offices can run, but government advises to take vaccine seriously
– 50pc seating in recreation clubs, entertainment and amusement parks, zoological parks, museums, cinema theatres in multiplex and shopping malls
– 100 persons allowed to attend wedding functions and funeral processions
– 200 persons allowed in social, political, educational, entertainment, sports and cultural events
– Standing passengers in inter-state buses being operated to Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka not allowed
– Exhibition halls allowed only for business-to-business events
– TV serial and film shooting allowed, but the management should ensure that all participants have undergone RT-PCR tests
The government also announced committees to implement the restrictions and ground-level monitoring committees to assess the ground situation. Such teams will be formed across all the districts.
