Pentagram, the alt-electro rock band is back with quite a bang. The band made a comeback after a hiatus of three long years at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender festival in Pune held on December 10. The band that was formed and helmed by Vishal Dadlani for nearly two decades fell apart for unknown reasons and since then, fans have eagerly been awaiting comeback news.
Making sure that the performance during the Weekender Festival was not a one-off, the band members dropped multiple hints of more to come. The most exciting news of all is perhaps that of a new album releasing in 2018. Though none of the details are finalised, the album is expected to be out early next year. Not just the album but fans will even have a host of live gigs and events where the band members will perform, effectively making it one of the biggest comebacks in the Indian music space.
Despite the fallout, the band members did make random appearances post 2014 – in the highly-acclaimed MTV Unplugged episode and an incendiary gig at the Red Bull Tour Bus show in October of the same year. However, all had been quiet since the last couple of years. The new gig of the band is scheduled in the coming weeks and more announcements are expected towards the end of the month. The band members continue to be the same – Vishal Dadlani (vocals), Randolph Correia (guitars), Shiraz Bhattacharya (drums) and Papal Mane (bass).

Talking about the way ahead, Vishal Dadlani said, “We’ve stayed close, through our time off. Of course, we still have moments where we can’t stand each other, but for most of the time, we’re just as much a bunch of goofs out for a good time, as we’ve always been. Think of the NH7 show as a tester. For us, as well as the newer audiences that haven’t gotten to know us yet. We need to know where we stand, given the way life has changed in 3 years. We’re gonna play hard, and have us a party, like we always do. And then, once we take that first step, we’ll re-learn how to walk.” Meanwhile, here’s a throwback to the heydays of Pentagram with one of the biggest hits of the band, Nocturne.
