The Global Citizen Forum hosted an intimate evening for its Founder’s close business associates, friends and family. The main objective of the forum is to envision the creation of ‘One World’. Defined as a world beyond gender, nationality, religion and boundaries! To achieve this GCF aims to advocate legal, social and cultural practices that promote equitable development.

The Founder of the Global Citizen Forum Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Modi is also the Founder and Chairman of the Spice Global Conglomerate. He is a man who has given India many a first, namely, India’s first Photocopier, the first Fax Machine and also manufactured India’s first Floppy Disc. He also provided India the first Mobile Phone Service. Now back home from Singapore, he intends to make Delhi his home for the next few years. The event on January 2 marked his return. It also happened to be his birthday.

The event was held at The Grand, New Delhi. It was managed by Abhinav Upadhyay of Perfect Harmony Productions. Adnan Sami regaled the audience with his evergreen hit songs. The guests could not get enough of the witty and charming musician.

The evening saw many an emotional speech by associates, friends and family members who recounted the important contribution he has made to India’s digital growth. Many an interesting incident of his life was narrated to the audience.

I was invited to host the proceedings as I have closely worked with the Spice Global Conglomerate for many years now. My job was to bring out Mr. Modi’s vision for Delhi in the coming years and specially focus on the launch of the Group’s fleet of Electric Cars soon to be launched in India. A snug conversation on stage between him and me, was designed to achieve the same.

An event such as this depends hugely on its performers, because the rest of the elements are pretty simple; performers, who through suitable interaction, must inject a personal warmth and glow into the proceedings. Adnan definitely struck the right chord with the audience that comprised of business magnates, politicos, bureaucrats and stellar achievers from the world of media. The evening wound up with everyone present wishing Dr. M a very Happy Birthday. I swayed through the proceedings with a bouncy twinkle in my step. After all, very rarely do such easy to execute events, come my way.

Headquartered in Singapore, The Global Citizen Forum is a burgeoning body of people committed to the cause of building a better planet based on the principles of collaboration and unity. GCF draws its inspiration from the World Wide Web, a phenomenon that has democratized communication and precipitated the creation of a global village. It seeks to bring together leaders from all disciplines — thought, spiritual, religious, economic and political — on a common platform to deliberate upon issues that affect the planet, reserving special focus for issues pertaining to women and youth.
